Sand Castle Worms

These Annelids are in the family Sabellidae which have tough tubes that are composed of sand that is stuck together with a glue that they secrete (shown above) and tentacular crowns, the shell is used for protection but is not connected to them like the shell of a turtle. If you see them removed from the shell then you would see their segmented body plans which are key characteristic of the phylum Annelida.
